In most books (and movies, and tv shows), the text and content of a story always stay the same. Have you ever thought “don’t go in the basement!” while reading a scary story, or “don’t date THAT guy,” while reading some romance? In an interactive story, what happens is up to you. The story changes based on your choices, meaning that it can be different each time you read it. In the ones we make at Storytwigs, you get to act as the main character and decide what happens next.

Want to write and publish your own interactive story? Pitch us! We are looking for writers who want to create short interactive pieces. No interactive storytelling experience is necessary—we will guide you through the process and help you come up with the interactivity. Plus, we will host your story on our site and share it with our audience, while you’ll retain all rights to your work.
Write 100 words to win $100. Storytelling is our passion, and we want to create more fun, low-pressure opportunities for writers. In addition to our open call for interactive story submissions, we have a FREE monthly contest. To enter, submit a (non-interactive) ~100-word micro-story based on a prompt. We believe that the best way to connect with people is to give them an experience that is fun and meaningful. Let’s create an interactive adventure (think short story meets video game) inspired by your brand. Are you a vegan chicken nugget company? We’ll make a Chicken Escape story where the player, a charismatic chicken, must figure out how to escape the factory farm. If you make multitools, we can make you a desert island adventure. Craft cocktails? Your adventure could be about becoming the star of their office year-end party.
